The Pencil
by Allan Ahlberg & Bruce Ingman.
"This book is about a pencil. It draws things like a boy called Bango, a dog named Bruce and a cat named Mildred. It draws food but it's not coloured in, so he draws a paintbrush named Kitty.
They draw and colour the whole world. Then the pencil draws a rubber who rubs Banjo and Kitty out and everything in the world. The pencil draws a wall to stop him, and a cage to trap him in and bears and lions to scare him but the rubber rubs everything out. So the clever little pencil draws another rubber and they try and rub each other out and THEY DO! - so then there are no rubbers at all. Then the pencil draw Kitty and then they draw and paint everything else again, then go to bed in a box.
It's really funny that everyone has a name - even the ball and all the ants and the egg that runs away - he's called "Billy".
The pictures are good because the rubber looks real and it looks like it's really rubbed out the pencil.
I like it because it's not a scary book. Everyone would like this book!"

Mr Big
by Ed Vere
Mr Big is a gorilla who is big - REALLY BIG!!
Everyone runs away from him and that makes Mr Big feel small.
He buys a piano and then someone sends him a letter to invite him to be in a band and then everyone wants to be his friend.
It's a sad book with a happy ending.
I like to read the speech bubbles because they are groovy!!
I don't like it when Mr Big is in the swimming pool because he looks a bit scary.
Boys and girls would like this book. Maybe 3,4 or 5 year olds.
