SCHOOL SUPPLY SERVICES

Bags of Books offers school customers an excellent book supply service provided by people who care about children and reading. We stock a superb and wide-ranging selection of books, including BIG books, both fiction & non-fiction for children up to 15 years. See our "useful booklists" for our recommendations for different ages and themes. These can be downloaded or printed off directly from the screen. Just follow the instructions!

How to Order from Bags of Books

1. UK schools should open an account.
   Schools who have not ordered from us before should send us their official order form and or letter head with a request to open an account indicating to whom the invoices should be addressed. Once this has been done we can accept orders for invoicing on 30 days credit.
   
   

2. We are delighted to take orders from schools outside the UK but we will require prepayment of the invoice before despatch. (by credit card, sterling cheque, or Swift direct to our bank.)
   
   

3. Send orders by phone, fax, post, email or use our on-line order form, quoting a school order number if that is required for your records.
   
   

4. It helps us if you can quote ISBNs for books required. If you need prices in advance just send us the order with your request clearly marked and we will reply with a quote.
   
   

5. Even if books are not in stock we are usually able to despatch to customers within 2 - 3 weeks, often sooner, rarely later.

School discounts (for customers with an account with us)

Orders under £75 retail value will be charged £4.50 carriage.

Visiting the shop.

Teachers are welcome to visit the shop to choose books, with the help of our friendly and expert staff.

CD ROM and internet book searches as well as all the publishers catalogues are available here.

Books are arranged for teachers' quick selection and we are happy to stay open late by prior arrangement.

Ask for posters for your library or classroom when you visit us. (Sorry we cannot send these by post! Publishers will usually send posters to schools if you contact them direct.)

Schools close to Lewes (within 25 miles) can enquire about our displays in school for school purchase. (Minimum sale value of £1000 for this service.)

Selection Boxes - Sometimes our school customers ask us to send a selection of books to their particular requirements.

E.g. "easy reading for 8 - 10 interest", "sensitive issues" or "plays",

Phone or email us to discuss your requirements.

These can be sent on a "sale or return" basis from which teachers can select. Any not required must be returned to the shop within 3 weeks. All those not returned will be invoiced to the school. Carriage will be charged at £4.50 per box to send and you will be responsible for their return in saleable condition.

School Prizes or Leavers Gifts.

You may like to use the same system as above to choose prizes or leavers gifts.

Book Tokens - We can supply Book tokens (exchangeable in most UK bookshops) as prizes too values from £1 up. Each comes with an envelope. Alternatively local schools may like to purchase Bags Of Books Tokens which will be eligible for usual school discounts.

We cannot send large format "big" books in this way as they damage too easily. We have a list of those we recommend.

Author Events

Author visits to schools create lots of enthusiasm amongst children for both reading and owning books. We can supply large quantities of an author's titles on sale or return for such events. (We need 3/4 weeks notice, however, to arrange extra stock from the publishers.)

Schools earn 12.5% discount on sales for events like these. Carriage would be charged at £4.50 each way if sales are under £75 (invoiced value).

Alternatively these can be collected and returned to the shop yourselves.

School Bookshops Stock for your school bookshop can be supplied at 12.5% discount with an extra 1.5% for prompt payment.

You may wish to order £500 worth of books and give us instructions to include your specific requirements. ( for example age range, authors, series, particular titles etc.)
