Bags of Books was started by Angela Macpherson in 1985. Her love of children's books gave her an overwhelming desire to make them more accessible. For several years she ran book fairs in schools with a large van as her base and transport. 1992 saw the opening of this delightful shop in Lewes. Since then the business has grown steadily bigger and stronger. In January 2003 Paul and Rachel Waller bought the business and have brought fresh new ideas and enthusiasm to the bookshop,
In the charming old building there is a vast range of books, spoken word, CDROMs, videos and character toys. Children, parents, visitors to Lewes and children's book fans are drawn to Bags of Books from a wide area across East & West Sussex. A large proportion of the customers are schools and teachers. They greatly appreciate the knowledge that staff have about books and their availability when they are stocking their classrooms and libraries.
